“Cry out, ‘Save us, O God our Savior; gather us and deliver us from the nations that we
may give thanks to your holy name that we may glory in your praise.’” 1 Chron 16:35

SOUTH FLORIDA CHRISTIANS FLOCK TO ISRAEL: Visits from Christians in Florida boost what could become a record tourist year for the Jewish nation. An abundance of South Florida churchgoers are journeying to Israel, spurred by a calm security climate and a push by pastors who want their flocks to connect with the land of Yeshua. These travelers are helping to boost Israeli tourism this year to a potential all-time high. May marked the sixth consecutive record-breaking tourism month according to Israel's Central Bureau of Statistics. (BCN)

ISRAELI ARAB SCIENTIST SEEKS BREATH TEST FOR CANCER: Dr. Hossam Haick, 35, a Christian Arab from Nazareth is working on an "electronic nose" to detect several types of cancer in their early stages.  "Our diagnosis rates are very good. We have reached 89% in early detection of breast cancer. With lung cancer we have achieved an early detection capability of 100%, but the samples in the clinical trials are still too small....We have succeeded in diagnosing five types of cancer by means of breath tests."  After completing a postdoc at Cal Tech, he returned to the Technion. "I was born here. I am tied to Israel. I also want to prove to others from the Arab community that nothing is impossible.  (Daily Alert/Ha’aretz)  “Declare His glory among the nations, His marvelous deeds among all peoples.” Ps 96:3

HAMAS SENDS PATIENTS TO ISRAEL FOR CARE: Ichilov hospital in Tel Aviv treats up to 100 patients a month from Gaza, and often Hamas takes the role of middleman between Gaza residents and the Israeli hospital, Ichilov Director Professor Gabi Barabash said Thursday. In addition to caring for patients from Gaza, the Ichilov staff treats many citizens of foreign Arab countries, including those that have no diplomatic ties with Israel. They all receive dedicated care, and the relatives who accompany them are provided with free food and a place to stay, Barabash said.  Ichilov treats all of its patients equally, he said, but it is not the only one, and hospitals throughout the country send hundreds of people home to Gaza in good health each month after they arrived in Israel suffering from serious ailments. He condemned Hamas for benefiting from the arrangement while giving nothing in return. “The time has come for Hamas to give us something small in return, to release a single son of ours, who has been held for four years with no medical care, in exchange for the hundreds of people whose lives Israel saves monthly.” (INN) “Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy.” Matt 5:7

NETANYAHU ASKS BILL CLINTON, BARAK OBAMA TO MEDIATE SHALIT RELEASE: Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu asked former US President Bill Clinton to help mediate the release of captive Israeli soldier Gilad Shalit.  During his recent visit to Washington, Netanyahu met with the former US leader and proposed the latter visit Gaza and negotiate with senior Hamas officials in efforts to finalize a prisoner exchange deal that would see hundreds of Palestinian prisoners freed from Israeli jails in exchange for Shalit. Gilad was captured by Gaza terrorist in 2006 and has been held by Hamas for over four years.  Netanyahu told his ministers he also appealed to US President Barak Obama to 'exert all of his power and the tools at his disposal' to secure the kidnapped soldier's release.  (Ha’aretz)

NETANYAHU: SETTLEMENT FREEZE HAS NOT BORNE FRUIT: Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu said Thursday a freeze on Jewish settlement construction in the West Bank had so far failed in its objective of spurring Palestinians to enter direct peace talks. "I decided, unlike any previous government, to freeze the construction in new settlements for a 10-month period to encourage the Palestinians to enter peace talks," he told the Council on Foreign Relations in New York.  "So far seven months have passed and they haven't come in. You can't go on a trapeze, hold out your hand and have no partner on the other side," he said. (AFP)

PALESTINIAN LEADER CALLS FOR ARAB INVASION OF ISRAEL: Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas, branded a "moderate" by the international community, let his true colors show during a recent meeting with writers and journalists when he stated that he would favor a pan-Arab military offensive against the Jewish state.  During a recent Arab League Summit in Libya he told his fellow leaders he still preferred war against Israel, but could not do it alone. "We are unable to confront Israel militarily, and this point was discussed at the Summit," said Abbas. “There I turned to the Arab States and said: 'If you want war, and if all of you will fight Israel, we are in favor. But the Palestinians will not fight alone because they don't have the ability to do it.’”  The Arab states of the Middle East have tried at least three times to militarily destroy Israel, but each time ended up losing territory to the Jewish state. (Israel Today) Abbas is the so-called "moderate" terrorist leader whose faction is being aided financially and militarily by the State Department.

EGYPT, JORDAN WORRIED ABOUT IRAN NUKES: Israeli delegations recently traveled to Jordan and Egypt for high-level talks with the political and security echelons on a wide range of issues including the Iranian nuclear threat. One official said that in both countries there was a sense of "urgency" regarding the need to stop Iran's nuclear progress.  "While there is not much that Jordan and Egypt can do to stop Iran, it is important for the US and countries in Europe to hear that they, too, are concerned with Iran's nuclear program," the official said. MINISTRY: WATCH OUT FOR THE HEAT: Sunday has turned out to be rather hot, the Health Ministry said – and in a statement, it suggested that everyone increase their intake of liquids. In addition, it said the elderly and those with health problems should refrain from unnecessary physical activity. In general, it would be a good idea to remain indoors, with the air conditioner turned on, the Ministry said. The same suggestions hold for Monday, as the heat wave is expected to continue. (INN)
