“When the enemy shall come in like a flood, the Spirit of
the Lord shall lift up a standard against him.” Is 59:17

TERRORIST RUNS OVER TWO BORDER POLICEMEN: Jerusalem was the scene of a miracle on Friday afternoon when a terrorist attempted to run over two border policemen in a neighborhood close to the Old City Walls. Other members of the border police force that were at the scene shot and critically wounded the driver as he tried to escape. The two policemen were lightly injured and received medical treatment on the spot. (Arutz-7)

IRAN TO BUILD NEW NUCLEAR SITE IN MARCH: Iran's nuclear chief says his country will begin construction of a new uranium enrichment plant by March of next year, a defiant announcement days after the UN voted for tougher sanctions. Iran's government has approved plans for 10 new enrichment facilities that can process uranium gas into fuel for nuclear power plants. The UN Security Council last week passed a fourth sanctions resolution meant to curtail Iran's nuclear activity.  Iranian President Ahmadinejad on Friday said US President Obama had made a "big mistake" in seeking to punish Iran over its nuclear program. Ahmadinejad, visiting China, said the latest UN resolution was "a worthless piece of paper.” (J.Post)

OBAMA LOBBIES CONGRESS TO SOFTEN SANCTIONS ON IRAN: The Obama administration is pressing congressional leaders to soften even the latest powerless legislation targeting Iran's energy sector.  This is being done out of concern that the US sanctions would harm relations with Europe, Russia and China and their adherence to the UN sanctions regime just passed by the Security Council.  Administration officials have begun negotiations with legislators drafting bills to punish companies that sell refined petroleum products to Iran or aid the country's oil industry. (J.Post)  In spite of Obama’s supposed support of the Jewish state, there is little if any concern being voiced for Israel’s security as his administration seeks ways for weak sanctions to be further watered down. “Faithful are the wounds of a friend; but the kisses of an enemy are deceitful.” Pr.27:6

IRAN SANCTIONS WON’T WORK: No one in the Obama White House believes that, by themselves, the newest rounds of sanctions against Iran's military-run businesses, its shipping lines and its financial institutions will force Tehran to halt its 20-year-long drive for a nuclear capability. Sanctions are unlikely to do more than delay the day of reckoning. (NY Times)

PROTESTERS ARRESTED DURING POST-ELECTION RIOTS’ ANNIVERSARY: Iranian security forces arrested 21 protesters in Tehran Saturday during demonstrations marking a year to post-election riots.  Hundreds of students marched in Tehran challenging the regime's legitimacy.  According to one report, the students were beaten by the Basiji militia while trying to take photographs of the protest. ISRAEL, US AGREE ON GAZA FLOTILLA PROBE:  Israel and the US agreed Thursday on the nature of the Israeli investigative committee that will look into the takeover of the Gaza-bound flotilla.  The committee will be headed by a retired Israel Supreme Court justice.  Members will include jurists specializing in international law as well as two observers – American and European.  The committee will examine whether the blockade of Gaza is in accordance with international law, whether the takeover of the flotilla in international waters was legal, and whether the use of force by Israeli troops was legal. (Ha’aretz) “May those who delight in my vindication shout for joy and gladness.” Ps 35:27

WANT TO END THE GAZA BLOCKADE?  ISRAEL SAYS, GRANT SHALIT HIS RIGHTS: If Hamas truly wants to end the blockade on Gaza, there is an easy way to do so - allow the Red Cross to visit kidnapped IDF soldier Gilad Shalit, says Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman. Granting visits to Shalit, as required by international law, is “the minimal condition for lifting the blockade,” he said. "As long as this condition is not fulfilled, there is no reason to change the situation,” Lieberman declared.  US House of Representatives Majority Leader Steny Hoyer last week also issued a statement reminding the world the Israeli blockade of the Gaza Strip could be ended in a moment if only Hamas took a few simple steps everyone else considers to be quite reasonable. "Let's be clear: Hamas could end the blockade at any time by recognizing Israel's right to exist, renouncing violence, and releasing Gilad Shalit," said Hoyer. Shalit was kidnapped in 2006 and has been held incommunicado by Hamas ever since. The terrorist group is demanding the release of more than one thousand terrorists held in Israeli prisons, including mass murderers, in exchange for the young soldier's freedom. Israel put a blockade on Gaza following the kidnapping and Hamas' rise to power, while Egypt closed its border once Hamas seized control in 2007. (INN/Israel Today)

EGYPT STOPS GAZA- BOUND AID: Egypt prevented hundreds of activists carrying Palestinian flags and trucks carrying humanitarian aid from entering the Strip on Saturday.  Meanwhile, Hamas says no Red Cross visits for kidnapped IDF soldier, Gilad Shalit. (Ynet)

TEL AVIV GAY PARADE DRAWS THOUSANDS: Tel Aviv embraced Israel’s GLBT community Friday as it hosted the 13th annual gay parade. Dozens of policemen and civilian police watched as thousands marched, dancing and waving rainbow flags.  Homosexuals, lesbians, bisexuals, transsexuals and sympathizers marched through many of Tel Aviv’s most famous streets. (J.Post)  Pray that the city of Tel Aviv will have a visitation from G-d and for His liberation and healing to come to those caught in bondage to perversion.

OPTICAL RADAR COULD BRING SIGHT TO THE BLIND: Students at Ben-Gurion University in Israel have developed an optical radar system that helps blind people maneuver around obstacles. The assistive technology incorporates two subsystems: a pair of glass with two video cameras and scanning light source; and a processing unit that is currently the size of a laptop. The system detects obstacles by scanning the depth of its surroundings, taken from two different angles. An audible alert is sounded if an obstacle is detected. This radar device is user friendly and allows the blind to have the use of both of their hands.  (The Engineer)
